1st time I'd ever been on a horse. Alexis went to a horse camp, so she was pretty excited about this. Me, on the other hand, was a little bit nervous, especially when the horse actually started moving. They're quite large animals and the horse was definitely in charge. These weren't like the little ponies at the state fair.

So we started on our ride and I was under the impression that trail horses would just follow each other and knew exactly where the path was. Well, Lily decided she was hungry and couldn't resist a meadow of grass and shrubbery. Off the path she went. I had no idea what to do. So, of course, I panicked and yelled, HELP! The trail guide told me to pull up on the reins. I pulled on the reins and nothing. Lily kept eating. So I pulled harder and she finally stopped eating, but she was still off the trail, now what am I supposed to do? The trail guide then told me to pull hard to the left. Apparently it wasn't hard enough, she didn't budge at all. They are very large animals and I didn't want to make her mad or upset her in anyway. Eventually I pulled hard enough and the rejoined the trail. WHEW. Alexis even trotted on her horse, which she thought was tons of fun. Both of our horses were hungry. They kept stopping along the trail to munch on leaves and grass. It really was a fun experience and I was able to lure Alexis to the mountains. After our ride we went to this really yummy place for Mexican food and Arch's for frozen yogurt. It was flavored frozen yogurt, which was delicious. The ending to a wonderfully spent weekend.
