Snow, snow, and more snow
It snowed 22 inches in 24 hours. We tried to take Alexis to the airport on Saturday, so we unburied the car. We have create a pathway to even get to the door there was so much snow.
20 minutes later we piled into the car, no snowplows had come, but I still thought we could get out to the freeway. Well, I think we moved a total of five feet in 15 minutes. So determined to get her to the airport. Storms in the East are definitely not like they are in Utah, the whole town of Harrisonburg shut down, church was cancelled and even the major airports and DC metro shut down. Her flight was cancelled, but fortunately she'll be heading out on Tuesday. WHEW!!! I guess we'll just have to play in the snow since we can't go anywhere.
So Alexis played in the snow. Came back in and warmed up and played in the snow again. Earlier in the morning Alexis and her friends took the boggie boards out into the snow.
It hardly ever snows like this in Virginia. No wonder they sent the children home from school on Friday an hour early. I had now idea it was going to snow this much!!!!
Christmas 2009
Wow!!! Alexis has grown or the tree is really small. Since Alexis is spending Christmas in Iowa, we celebrated it a little early this year.

Next year, I think I'll just wrap packing materials for her. She seemed to enjoy them more than the gifts.

Colonial Williamsburg, VA
They had so many different cheeses to choose from. We got a sandwich with yummy Virginia ham.
They had all their Christmas decorations up.
They lit the luminaries, which was really nice and warm, too. We also sang Christmas Carols. They even sang Oh, Come All Ye Faithful in Latin.
Young Women's
For Alexis' Young Women's project she decided to plan and prepare meals. She made her own reciepe book and we did a little shopping for supplies. She decided to make homemade gnocchi with wild mushroom sauce, spicy green beans, guacamole and chips for an appetizer and for dessert flan. Wow!!! It was amazing. She made everything from scratch all by herself and it was delicious. You can't tell from these pictures how great it smelled. What a great cook she is!!!!
Christmas Tree
We decorated the Christmas tree with a little help from Alexis' friends, Maggie, Anna, and Darakshan. They had never decorated a tree before. We also made ginger cookies and had egg nog, another first for them.
All topped off with a star. Thanks Alexis.
